8 WAYS TO GET MORE ENERGY IN THE MORNING.

The way we live these days is not conducive for ideal sleep, rejuvenation and energy levels. We show our natural circadian clocks little respect, using electronic devices at all hours. We mostly consume a diet that leaves our hormones in shambles. However, there are smart ways to work around these things while not giving up coffee or social media.

Here are 8 ways to get more energy in the morning:

1. Drink water before going to sleep.

Drinking water before going to sleep will cause you to need to use the bathroom in the morning. Needing to use the bathroom will make you want to get up and prevent you from falling back to sleep. However, excess amounts of water within the few hours prior to going to sleep may cause you to wake up in the middle of the night.

2. Exercise as soon as you can.

Engaging in some physical activity first thing in the morning is one of the best ways to kick start you body and shake off the grogginess left over from your sleep. If at all possible, it helps if this exercise takes place outdoors since the fresh air will help to refresh you and get ready for the day, but indoor exercises work very well also.

3. Wake up to the right type of light.

Our brain is programmed to expect us to get up in the early morning, bathed in bright, bluish light. If this is roughly the time you wake up, keep the curtains open so your body doesn't think it's night. Otherwise, consider purchasing a dawn simulating alarm clock. This will gradually increase the light levels in the room before yore alarm goes off, which helps you wake up alert and happy.

4. Add fat to your coffee.

According to a recent clinical study, consuming coffee on its own simply stimulates the adrenal glands to produce more of the stress hormone cortisol. This can leave the adrenals burnt out and send you into an energy dip a few hours later. Try adding coconut oil or its derivative MCT oil to your morning coffee. It turns out the useful nutrients in coffee are fat soluble, so adding fats, helps to extract them. These nutrients stimulate the nervous system for steady energy, and also control hunger and turn off food cravings. In addition, drinking coffee with a healthy fat is less of a shock to the system than just coffee on its own.

5. Rehydrate.

If you wake up feeling like your mouth is as dry as a desert, refresh yourself with a glass of water. Taking it gradually will let your kidneys get going and make you feel more alert. Keep drinking water all day as doctors recommend to feel your best. Don't over do the coffee fix because too much caffeine early in the morning will pick up, then drop you with a thud by lunchtime.
If you really have to have your morning java then spread it out over a few hours.

6. Eat a healthy breakfast.

If most of your breakfast is coffee or sugary cereal, you're setting yourself up for a crash. Ramp yourself up to lasting energy with a breakfast of protein, carbohydrates and fruits or vegetables.

7. Do something fun in the morning.
Stimulating your mind by doing an enjoyable activity will give you energy. If you schedule it in advance, knowing that you will be doing something fun will make you more eager to get out of bed in the morning. It could be a phone conversation with a friend, reading, playing video games, or something else that makes you happy.

8. Get enough sleep.

They say that prevention is better than cure and this is certainly the case when it comes to relieving low morning energy levels. The fact of the matter is that people in general, don't get enough sleep, so it's no wonder that most of is are stumbling around like zombies come 9 a.m. If you find yourself feeling horribly slugging throughout the day then it's a pretty sure sign that something isn't quite right, and that thing is usually your sleep pattern.
